Who We Are
The Kentucky Hemp Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3) created to raise and distribute charitable funding in pursuant of advancing the industrial hemp industry. The Hemp Research Foundation is based in Kentucky; however, the Foundation funds research projects conducted throughout the United States.
Before passage of the 2014 Farm Bill, United States federal law prohibited industrial hemp production; but the inclusion of Sec 7606 opened industrial hemp production for research and pilot scale projects in states with abiding regulation. With Sec 7606, the industry is free to advance research, but research funding is limited. The Kentucky Hemp Research Foundation strives to provide financial support, funding novel research projects that advance the industrial hemp industry into a commercially viable commodity.
